In addition to Distribution and Buying, these are the main functions at our Bracknell headquarters:

Selling – providing support to our selling branches, professional project managers assist with the practical implementation of new branch initiatives. A call centre provides a central point of support for branch enquiries.

Marketing – we’re involved in the whole range of marketing activities including Waitrose.com as well as TV, radio and press advertising.

Accounts – we have to maintain company and individual branch accounts, deal with suppliers’ invoices, monitor all branch expenses and look after customer accounts.

Personnel – with more than 35,000 Partners within Waitrose, we have an extensive personnel department which includes specialist trainers.

Services – our maintenance team includes multi-skilled tradespeople and electricians, as well as specialists in refrigeration and air conditioning, and keeps our branches in good working order.

Journalism – a small team produces our weekly in-house journal, the Waitrose Chronicle.

Print Office – we maintain our own fully equipped Print Room.

Catering – our catering team enables us to provide subsidised meals for Partners while they are at work during the day or night.

Development – we have a team of project managers who investigate potential future Waitrose sites, and monitor the construction of new branches or alterations and extensions to existing ones.

Food Technology - quality controllers and other food technologists make sure that our products meet the strictest food hygiene requirements.

Publications – we have a team which co-ordinates regular publications and a monthly series of recipes which we produce for our customers

Graphic Design – our in-house team of graphic designers works with buyers to create new packaging for our own label products.
