Distribution
Distribution is about getting the right stock to the right place at the right time. But in a large food shop chain, that’s a complex and demanding task which calls for a team of people, all pulling together to reach challenging targets:
Provisioners liaise with our buyers and place orders with suppliers so that our warehouses have sufficient stock available to meet branch requirements.
Warehouse Assistants receive and store products, pick individual branch orders and then load the goods onto a trailer ready for distribution to our branches. We have three warehouses on site: ambient (which stores long-life products), fruit & vegetable and chilled.
Our Transport team is responsible for meeting our complex branch delivery schedules.
Planners look at how we might develop our distribution operation as we open new branches or carry out special projects.
Engineers are responsible for maintaining and repairing our mechanical equipment, including our refrigeration equipment.
We also have a small team that monitors and supports the distribution operations we contract out to companies with other specialist facilities.
